Happy Friday Catch up!

Marc Jacobs watch // Louis Vuitton Stole // Rimmel 'Cocktail Passion' Polish // Turquoise Stone, Silver Ring from Christmas market in Berlin

HOLLA amiga's

how are you all? are you having a nice spring/summer? over here in england we seem to be struggling a bit. we don't get blistering hot summers anyway so we're not missing out on too much. it does seem however that as soon as we manage to squeeze in 3-4 days of gorgeous weather, we're punished afterwards with a week or two of solid rain. seemingly for being greedy. so as you can imagine it's playing havoc with everyone's mood, especially mine.
oh well! i have decided that if i don't get a decent dose of vitamin d then i will most certainly traveling abroad to soak some up! where would you recommend visiting?

work is a bit slow at the moment. the only current project i have on the go is a gynecologist's web re-design...which will be interesting to say the least. although it should start picking up next week as i'm traveling up to liverpool to film a tv advert with a james bond villian ;) keep an eye out for a post on that!

apart from that i don't think there's too much to waffle on about! i'm thinking about writing a personal post regarding a subject i have posted about on here before. as usual, i'm wondering whether i need to go there or not. what posts do you find most interesting? what made you follow me, what brings you back? If you guys let me know i can make sure to keep making those posts to keep you interested! i appreciate my blog is a bit scatty, but that's because i am so i guess it suits :)

keep reading, keep commenting, and i'll keep posting and replying ♥

speak soon XOXO

Design Hotels Launches Collector's Edition Book

happy 2oth anniversary design hotels

To celebrate Design Hotels has launched a giant version of its annual book. It's so big it even comes with it's own table and stool courtesy of Alvar Aalto. Both were customized especially for this by the Finnish Design company, Artek.

I am ridiculous when it comes to books. Novels I can pass on when I've finished, but there's something about coffee table books. If they're pretty....I NEED to own them, and KEEP them, and DISPLAY them. So, like a magpie, when I saw this, I NEEDED to own it, keep it and display it.

Design Hotels was founded 20 years ago by a Californian named Mr Claus Sendligner. It is thee go-to place for hungry globetrotters who have an appetite for worldwide, stylish accommodation.

Design Hotels started off as a small marketing business with just 10 hotels in it's portfolio (note: in all fairness they were a pretty snazzy 10 at that). Over the past 20 years it has collected 250 of the worlds most beautiful properties on its books; ranging over 46 countries. It is the mecca of resources for design-conscious travelers. All of those hotels are showcased in this collector's edition of their annual book.

The book contains 800 pages and weights a crazy 25kg. I'm thinking this was a key reason why it comes with the stool and table.

Pages feature an array of stunning full-page images and profiles of the properties.

For those of you that fell in love at first sight with me don't sigh with dismay just yet! Design Hotel have brought out a more practical sized book for those who don't have £2, 111 to spare and room for this collector's edition.

I would defiantly like to purchase this book! Do you?

The Treehotel | The Mirrorcude | Sweden

Following on from the amazing Tree Tent post from a few days ago, I bring you The Mirrorcube! At first glance I think you could easily mistake these photographs as screen shots from a video game but alas, they are real! How bloody spectacular!

Like the Tree Tent, The Mirrorcube brings you comfortably closer to unspoilt nature.

Taking the next step up, the exciting hide-out is hidden 4-6 metres up among the trees, beautifully camouflaged by mirrored walls that reflect their surroundings which includes a breath-taking view of the river Lule. From a distance you wouldn't be able to recognise that the cube was even there!

Now you may think, hold up a second, sure this is an incredible design, but surely the mirrored walls have some disadvantages? What about the poor birds? Am I going to be inundated with bird after bird crashing into it? WELL, this should impress you;to prevent birds from gatecrashing your humble abode, the mirrored walls are covered in infrared film. The colour to you and me is invisible but to the birds its visible.

The inspiration for these designs came from the film 'The Tree Lover' created by Jona Selberg Augustsen. It tells the story of three men that together ditched the city to go back to their country roots to build a tree house. What a romantic idea (not in the common sense mind).

You may have been left thinking about how you actually get into it! That is where this 12 metre long bridge comes in handy.

Rightly so, The Treehotel holds their ecological values close to heart to make sure they make a minimal environmental impact.

As you can see on the photos above and below The Mirrorcube has six windows looking out onto stunning panoramic views. It sleeps up to two people comfortably in a double bed, complete with bathroom, lounge area and a rooftop terrace!

Britta's Pensoinat (reception) is where you would check in before strolling to your chosen room...

1. The Mirrorcube | 2. The Bird's Nest | 3. The Cabin | 4. The UFO | 5. The Blue Cone

Oh, and they do have a sauna...

You can also enjoy meals served by your hosts (Britta and Kent) in genuine 1930's - 50's settings, of course if you'd rather have your own space they can deliver direct to your tree house too.

As well as the sauna and restaurant, Britta's pensionat also has a bar, relaxation area, TV and Internet.

Sweden is on the long list of places I'd like to visit, and I am certain in thinking that when I do visit I will have to stay here!

I'll have to save a penny or two extra though because you'll be looking at paying 4600 SEK (£451.87) for two adults a night to stay in The Mirrorcube.

What do you think about The Treehotel? Have you visited or do you plan to?

Cara Delevingne's 1st Tattoo!

I swooned as soon as I saw Cara D's new tattoo. Can Cara Delevingne get any cooler? I mean what a awesome idea for first tattoo....rather daring don't you think? On second thoughts she is the it-girl model of the moment so maybe not so daring.

Hearsay has it that it was her best bud Rihanna that told her to get it done by her favourite tattoo parlour - Bang Bang in New York city.

I personally think it's epic and instantly wanted to book myself in for one myself. What do you think?

Luminair Tree Tent | Glamping

I've come across some quirky camping options while researching hidden countryside getaways but this one I think is an easy winner for most eccentric.

This my friends in a tree tent! Why would you want to stay in a thousand pound a night stays in luxury tree house when you can stay in a tree pod?!

Tree tents are held up three meters off the ground by eight ropes that are attached to the surrounding trees.

As much as a lot seem to have described this as 'glamping', I'm not sure it is y'know. It enables you to really immerse yourself into the woodlands which I'm pretty sure won't appeal to typical glampers.

I think the best aspect of the design by far is how the structure gently moves with the trees as they sway with a breeze.

The frame is made from British ash wood that's been sourced from local forests and recycled aluminum topped with a waterproof cotton cover. I'll give it a thumbs up for local resources and recycling!

To enter the tree tent you would climb up a wooden ladder which leads you to an oval front door. It can sleeps two adults & one child on two suspended single beds (The Secret Campsite) or sleep two adults on a double bed (Red Kite Barn). Don't worry, you won't have to get too medieval - the tent does have LED lighting and is fully insulated so it'll keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. You'll also noticed the air vents at the top and bottom to keep the orb cool.

This is the product of three years work by designer Jason Thawley. His inspiration came from the wooden tree houses of Canada. You may have seen it featured on George Clarkes Amazing Spaces.

If you want to stay in one of these little beauts then you have the option of staying in Barcombe, East Sussex, at The Secret Campsite or in Pwoys, Wales at the Red Kite Tree Tent.

Red Kite have a 3 night minimum stay of £299 and The Secret Campsite have a 2 night minimum stay of £190.

I'd love to stay in one of these tree tents. It'd be so nice getting back to basics and feeling at one with the nature around you.

What do you think? Have you ever stayed in a tree tent?
